  • The MasteryPrep Boot Camp Approach

MasteryPrep offers Boot Camp sessions for the STAAR End-of-Course exams in Algebra I, English I, English II, and U.S. History. Each high-impact workshop is delivered in a single half-day session, and schools and districts can select the exam areas that best meet their needs.

Because success on standardized assessments requires more than content knowledge alone, MasteryPrep Boot Camps combine focused instruction on the most heavily tested standards with practical strategies for navigating the exam.

  • Evidence-Based Programming Drives Measurable Results

Since its founding in 2013, MasteryPrep has delivered more than 10,000 Boot Camps, serving thousands of students across assessments ranging from the SAT and ACT to state-specific end-of-course exams such as STAAR. This approach is supported by a strong, data-backed track record of success.

To better understand the impact of its STAAR Boot Camps, MasteryPrep conducted an analysis comparing 2022 and 2023 STAAR results in schools and districts that implemented Boot Camps in Spring 2023. Using publicly available data from the Texas Education Agency, the analysis included 16 school districts and 27,928 students.

Key findings included:

  • 87.5% of participating schools and districts saw both a decrease in the percentage of students scoring Did Not Meet and an increase in those scoring Approaches.
  • The number of students scoring Did Not Meet—and therefore requiring retesting to graduate—declined by 23.9%.
  • The percentage of students scoring Approaches increased by an average of 9.65%.
  • In 68.8% of participating schools, the percentage of students scoring at least Meets increased, with an average gain of 5.7%.
  • All participating districts saw increases in students scoring at least Approaches on the English II, Biology, and U.S. History exams.

Following Boot Camps for STAAR English I and II, Aubrey ISD saw a 38.49% mean reduction in the percentage of students scoring Did Not Meet, with average gains of 10.5 percentage points at Approaches and 3.5 points at Meets. English I showed the strongest growth, with 14-point increases at both Approaches and Meets.

While these analyses don’t establish definitive causality, the results suggest that MasteryPrep’s Boot Camps for STAAR can meaningfully support improved outcomes for students, schools, and districts.

Led by MasteryPrep expert instructors, Boot Camps can be delivered either online or in person to meet the unique needs of your school or district.

Live In-Person
A MasteryPrep-certified instructor travels to your campus to deliver the Boot Camp in person. Sessions are high-energy and engaging, helping students stay focused and make the most of the experience. Each participating student receives a workbook with guided exercises for the session, along with additional practice materials they can use through test day. There is no attendance cap for live, in-person sessions.

Online
The live virtual Boot Camp option brings the same expert instructors to students via livestream. Instructors use proven engagement strategies to create an interactive experience comparable to in-person delivery. Each student receives the same workbook provided to in-person participants, enabling them to follow along and review content independently. Live virtual sessions are limited to 100 attendees, and a recording is available for students who are unable to attend.

Teachers often have limited capacity to develop and deliver test preparation materials—and may lack the technology needed to fully replicate the test-taking experience.
